JAMES “JIM” CLARK, 84, a long-time Atlantic resident, died Sat., Dec. 7th, at Creighton Medical Center. Services for JIM CLARK will be held 10-a.m. Wed., Dec. 11th, along with those of his son, JAMES L. CLARK. Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic has the arrangements.

Western IA roads becoming snow covered

The Iowa Department of Transportation reports some roads in western Iowa were partially or completely covered with snow early Sunday morning. As of 6:30-a.m., Interstate 80 west of Highway 173 in Cass County was partially covered with snow. Interstate 29 from Sloan south to near Nebraska City was completely covered with snow.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS…LIGHT SNOW WILL CONTINUE OVER NORTHERN IOWA AND SPREAD FARTHER SOUTH AND WEST INTO THE INTERSTATE 35 CORRIDOR BETWEEN 7AM AND 10AM. ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL INTENSIFY SOMEWHAT SHORTLY AFTER THOSE TIMES WITH TRAVEL IMPACTS BEGINNING. THE SNOW WILL END IN THE LATE AFTERNOON OR EARLY EVENING TODAY.

* STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 2 TO 4 INCHES…WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY…SOUTHEAST WINDS OF 10 TO 15 MPH WILL CAUSE MINOR BLOWING OF SNOW…REDUCING VISIBILITY TO A MILE OR LESS DURING PERIODS OF HEAVIER SNOW.

OWI arrest in Red Oak Sunday morning

Deputies in Montgomery County arrested a man early this morning on alcohol-related charges. Officials say 23-year old Zachary Allen Wood, of Red Oak, was taken into custody at around 2:15-a.m., on charges of OWI/1st offense and Open Containers as the driver of a vehicle. The arrest took place following a traffic stop in the 100 block of West Washington Street, in Red Oak.

Wood was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $1,000 cash bond.

Atlantic Yard Waste site hours change

The City of Atlantic has changed the hours of operation of its Yard Waste Site near the Schildberg Recreation Area. Effective Sat., Dec. 7th, the Yard Waste Site will only be open on Saturday’s, from 9-a.m. to 5-p.m. , until Spring.

The City reminds residents that they should only bring trees, branches, grass, garden waste and/or leaves to the site, during its hours of operation.

CLARENCE FRED MORELAND, JR., 70, of Guthrie Center, died Fri., Nov. 6th, at the Guthrie County Hospital. Funeral services for CLARENCE MORELAND, JR., will be held 10-a.m. Tue., Dec. 10th, at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Panora. Twigg Funeral Home in Guthrie Center has the arrangements.

Visitation at the church is from 6-to 8-pm  Mon., Dec.9th.

Burial will be in the Union Cemetery at Guthrie Center.

MO. woman arrested for 3 offenses in Adams County

Sheriff’s Officials in Adams County report the arrest early Saturday morning of an Osborn, Missouri woman. Dierdre Slominski was arrested for Operating a motor vehicle While Intoxicated, Open Container in a vehicle and Interference with Official Acts. She was taken into custody after deputies stopped to assist a motorist at around 1:40-a.m. on David Avenue, in Corning.

Open containers of alcohol were found during a search of the Slominski vehicle.

Red Oak woman cited Saturday night for DUS

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports a Red Oak woman was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Driver’s License. Sierra Lynn Adkins was charged and released on the citation at the time of the traffic stop, which happened at around 10-p.m.
