The Atlantic Church of Christ will play host to the 30th annual Patty Hannon Memorial Concert this Sunday, Nov. 10th. Guy Somers, along with his musical family and friends will perform during the event, which begins at 2-p.m. , and features a variety of songs and tunes from Broadway musicals, movies, classic rock, classical and gospel music. There is no admission charge.

Patricia (Patty) Louise Hannon, is a native of Greenfield. She died in May, 1950, at the age of 17, from an untreatable brain tumor. Hannon had an intense love for music and marching and was drum majorette for the Atlantic High School Band for three years. She was also chosen “the flame girl” in the Atlantic Fire Department’s Parade in the fall of 1949.

Her father’s deep devotion and love for his daughter continues today with the annual Patty Hannon Concert held at the United Church of Christ. Mr. Hannon left a gift to the church, and it was decided to honor Patty respectably with a yearly concert.
