ELAINE REINKE, 90, of Manning, died Mon., Feb. 3rd, at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Funeral services for ELAINE REINKE will be held 11-a.m. Sat., Feb. 8th, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the church after 9-a.m. Saturday.

Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

ELAINE REINKE is survived by:

Her children – Roger Reinke, of Arvada, CO; Mary (Dale) Segebart, of Denison; Vergene (Tom) Wallace, of Waterloo, NE; Haren Riesselman, of Lake View; Helen (Darrel) Avitt, of Ankeny; Duane (Judy) Reinke, of Ankeny; Donna (Allen) Campbell, of Pueblo West, CO; Dale “Ernie” (Karen) Reinke, of Manning, and Diane (Greg) Reinke-Kendrick, of Mitchellville.

16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

3 vehicle accident in Atlantic Tuesday

A collision between three vehicles was reported just before 8-a.m. at 10th and Maple Streets here in Atlantic. According to dispatch reports, a Mercury Mountaineer SUV  rolled over into a small ditch near the intersection. Another vehicle involved in the collision was a Chevy Suburban.

According to reports, a northbound Ford Taurus pulled into the intersection and was hit by the SUV. The car spun around and collided with the Suburban, while the SUV ended up in ditch. The car and Suburban came to rest in the middle of the intersection. No injuries were reported. Additional details are expected later today.

Tasty Pork Ribs (2-4-14)

  • 4 pounds bone-in country style pork ribs
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauc
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Place ribs in a 5 quart slow cooker.  Combine the remaining ingredients; pour over ribs.  Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or until meat is tender.

Multi-vehicle accident in Cass County on I-80

Rescue crews from in Atlantic have been called to a multi-vehicle accident this morning on I-80 in Cass County. The call came in at around 6:28-a.m. from Interstate 80 westbound at the 60 mile marker, or just west of the Highway 71 interchange. At least two people were hurt, including a man with a shoulder injury, and a pregnant female who was having trouble breathing.  Crews from Atlantic Fire & Rescue, Anita Rescue and Medivac were called to the scene.

No other details are available. Another accident reported at the 48-mile marker westbound has a car on its top in the traveled portion of the road. At 6:51-a.m., the Iowa Dot’s Website at 511ia.org reported I-80 westbound between Exit 46 (County Road M-47) and Exit 51 (County Road M-56 near Walnut) was blocked due to an accident.

Exira man arrested on theft and FIP of firearm charges

Police in Audubon report the arrest on Saturday of 35-year old Scott Harold Toepfer, of Exira. Toepfer was charged with Theft in the 4th Degree and three counts of being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm. His arrest stems from the execution of a search warrant.
Toepfer was transported to the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office where he was being held on $5000 bond.  His arrest was made by officers with the Audubon Police Department with the assistance of deputies from the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office.
