Dog bites jogger in Lenox

News

June 23rd, 2014 by Ric Hanson

Police in Lenox report a dog bite in the community last Friday resulted in the animal being quarantined and may be put down because its vaccinations had expired and the tags were improper. Officials say a woman jogging  at around 7:30-a.m. Friday was bitten just above her ankle by a loose dog. The bite was severe enough to require the victim to undergo two-hours of emergency surgery.

The dog and its owners were identified. The animal was taken into custody and placed into quarantine. Authorities say that type of situation creates a number of problems for the dog owners. Citations will be issued, the dog will be destroyed and there will likely be civil responsibility.

Lenox Police remind residents to “Please make sure your dogs are in compliance and you DO NOT allow them to run loose.” Do not hesitate to contact the Police Department if you observe a dog at large. If officials catch the animal, it will be impounded. If the owner can be identified, the issue will be addressed.

Two Accidents, Two Arrests in Mills County

News

June 23rd, 2014 by Jim Field

Mills County deputies covered a pair of traffic accidents on Saturday.
Katelyn Manning of Glenwood was driving a 200 Kia southbound on I-29 Saturday evening and was exiting the interstate. While on the off ramp, Manning heard a noise and the vehicle started to drift toward a construction cone. Manning tried to correct the swerving, which caused her to lose control. The car went into the east ditch and hit a post, which cause the vehicle to spin. There were no reported injuries.

Also, Saturday afternoon, Kiersten Confer of Glenwood was driving a 2002 Chevy 2 miles north of Glenwood on 230th Street when she hit loose gravel on the shoulder of the roadway. Confer lost control of the car, causing it to go off the roadway to the right. The car then rolled over and came to a rest on its tires in the eastside road ditch. Confer was transported to Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs by Private vehicle.

Also, deputies arrested a pair of Nebraskans Friday. 23 year old Destiny Estalin Louise Graham of Omaha, NE was charged with  Interference with Official Acts.

27 year old Scott Douglas Adams of La Vista, NE was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and held on bond totaling $1,000.00.
