IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa swimming and diving concluded the Hawkeye Invitational on Saturday. The Hawkeyes finished second with 712 points following Nebraska with 784.

“Overall, I was really impressed by our team effort, top to bottom. We have learned so much about our team at this midway point of the season,” Iowa head coach Nathan Mundt said. “We saw the growth between the prelims and the finals that is important to see at this point in the season. It’s really critical to see our team to come together and bond over the expectation to perform and take the next step forward. We have some excellent, all-time caliber performances for our program. This is another step in the right direction and where you want to be at an elite level, not only in our record books but against Big Ten competition and regional competition.”
Iowa posted five additional Iowa top 10 all-time rankings on day three, tallying 15 on the weekend. Freshman Jenna Kerr swam the preliminary 100 free with a time of 50.26, tying the sixth all-time ranking. Sophomore Scarlet Martin followed with a 1:58.67 in the preliminary 200 fly, tying the fourth all-time mark and posting a NCAA “B” cut time. In the 200-breaststroke finals, freshman Olivia Swalley bettered her top-10 preliminary race mark with the fourth-best performance in program history )2:12.92) — her second NCAA “B” cut time of the weekend.
Kerr posted Iowa’s tenth all-time 1650 free with a time of 16:46.86. The Hawkeyes then closed out the night with the 400-free relay as sophomore Sabina Kupcova, Kerr, Swalley and Martin combined for a time of 3:20.47 to post the ninth-fastest time in program history.
Over three days, the Hawkeyes combined for 15 of Iowa’s top-10 all-time ranks. Swalley contributed to eight of these rankings between individual and relay events. Martin also registered multiple top-performances, contributing to six.
Iowa freshman diver Simone Beinlich placed third in platform diving with a score of 202.20, while sophomore Geneva Pauly competed in the CAMO International Invitational in Montreal, Canada, placing ninth in the platform dive with a score of 191.35.
“We are super excited for our team going into our Cy-Hawk week, coming up on Friday,” Mundt said. “We’d love to stay focused and be positive for what will be a very competitive meet.”
The Hawkeyes return to action on Friday, Dec. 8 for the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk dual against in-state rival Iowa State. The meet will begin at 6 p.m. (CT) at Beyer Hall Pool in Ames, Iowa.
