9-1-1 land-line service disrupted in parts of Cass & Montgomery Counties

News

August 3rd, 2015 by Ric Hanson

Cass County 9-1-1 Director Rob Koppert reports 9-1-1 service in parts of Cass County and Montgomery has been disrupted this morning due to a cut fiber optic line south of Atlantic. Koppert says only land-line 9-1-1 service is affected.

Calls made to 9-1-1 via cell phone are not affected. The area impacted includes Griswold, Lewis, Grant and Elliott. People needing to report an emergency should use their cellular phones.

People without a cellular phone are urged to contact a friend or relative that does have a cellular phone. People can also try calling the Cass County 911 Center administrative line at 712-243-2204 although long distance from those telephone exchanges may or may not be affected by the cable cut.
