DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Two U.S. agencies say more than 380 people in 26 states have been diagnosed with a stomach illness tied to Mexican cilantro contaminated by human waste. It’s the fourth consecutive summer in which the intestinal infection has been reported in the United States. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating the cause of the latest outbreak, which appears to have begun after May 1.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa agriculture officials say a majority of the quarantine zones set up around poultry farms infected with bird flu are being lifted. When bird flu was confirmed on a farm, a six-mile zone was established to control traffic. State officials said Tuesday 77 zones were set up but they are in the process of lifting 69 now. Once completed, officials say there will only be control zones remaining on six farms in Adair, Sioux and Wright counties. Iowa lost 34 million birds to the bird flu outbreak.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say two men have been arrested after the remnants of a methamphetamine lab were found inside a Taco Bell in eastern Iowa. The Cedar Rapids Police Department says officers found two men outside the restaurant. One identified himself as a Taco Bell employee. Officers entered the closed restaurant and found meth lab remnants in a utility area. The men were identified as 31-year-old Christopher Adam Matous and 56-year-old Kent Jerome Duby.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A jury has convicted a Colorado Springs woman in the stabbing death of a man whose body was found in a car in Iowa. The Gazette reports 22-year-old Bionca Rogers was found guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and murder after deliberation in the death of 61-year-old Grant Frazier. She was immediately sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Frazier was killed Feb. 16, 2014, in Colorado Springs, and his body was found nine days later in the trunk of his car in the parking lot of a Newton, Iowa, apartment complex. Rogers testified Friday that she drove to her hometown to give her family custody of her 4-year-old daughter. She said she stabbed Frazier because he was trying to rape her.
