(Atlantic, Iowa) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports a scam is circulating locally, in which the person calling claims to be a Deputy with the sheriff’s office. “This ‘Deputy’ is telling people that they have missed jury duty and eventually asks the potential victims to provide personal information to verify their identity.”

Authorities stress “This is a scam and these types of phone calls will not come from our office. In general, it is never a good idea to give personal information out over the phone, without properly sourcing and trusting who you are speaking with.”
