Fort Dodge teen arrested on numerous felony charges after shots-fired investigation

(Fort Dodge, Iowa) – Police in Fort Dodge says a teen was arrested Friday morning (today), following an investigation into a report of shots fired. The Webster County Telecommunications Center received the call at around 11:40-a.m. about a shot fired in the block of 800 South 15th St, in Fort Dodge. The caller advised that the shooter had only fired one shot and was fleeing the area on foot.
A Patrol Officer was not far from the advised location and arrived quickly on scene. Witnesses in the area pointed out where they believed the shooter had fled. While searching the area, the officer located a person of interest, and they were detained. Once the crime scene was located at 829 S 15th St, investigators arrived, evidence was collected, and witnesses were interviewed.
As a result of the investigation thus far, a 14‐year‐old juvenile male has been arrested and charged with the following:
*Trafficking in Stolen Weapons Used in a Public Offense (C Felony)
*Unauthorized Possession of Offensive Weapon (D Felony)
*Domestic Abuse Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
*Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
*Minor Armed with a Dangerous Weapon (Serious Misdemeanor)
*False Imprisonment (Serious Misdemeanor)
*Reckless Use of a Firearm (Simple Misdemeanor)
As with all cases, the juvenile offender is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
At this time, investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to follow up on this incident.
