Horse owned by an Iowan draws the 4th post for today’s Kentucky Derby

DES MOINES, Iowa — One horse with Iowa ties will run in the 150th Kentucky Derby. Albaugh Family Stables, based in Des Moines, owns Catching Freedom, which drew the fourth post in Saturday’s derby at Churchill Downs. Ankeny billionaire Dennis Albaugh owns the stable, which had three horses in last year’s race with one, Angel of Empire, finishing third.
The derby is a 1 1/4-mile race has a $5 million purse, with the winner taking 60% ($3.1 million), second taking 20% ($1 million), and third taking 10% ($500,000).
