The Iowa football team picked up another quarterback Wednesday as Northwestern transfer Brendan Sullivan announced he will join the Hawkeyes.

Iowa was down to only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster after Deacon Hill entered the transfer portal following spring practice. Cade McNamara and Marco Lainez remain.

McNamara is the No. 1 quarterback heading into training camp. Lainez played in the January 1st Citrus Bowl against Tennessee but was behind Hill this spring. The Hawkeyes signed Jacksonville QB James Resar in their 2024 recruiting class.

Sullivan lost the starting quarterback competition at Northwestern to Ben Bryant before last season. When Bryant was injured in late September, Sullivan started four games. The Wildcats went 2-2, one of the losses coming against Iowa at Wrigley Field.  He joins the program with two years of eligibility remaining.

Sullivan completed 64 percent of his passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns against two interceptions. He rushed for 160 yards and a pair of scores.
