Atlantic Community School District got to host the Class 1A -Region 2 singles and doubles tennis matches on Monday May 6th, where there were nine teams on hand. Atlantic’s freshmen Lily Willrich lost in the second round to St. Albert senior Grace Manz, while Atlantic freshman Jacobi Harder lost in the first round to Audubon junior Briley Belnap in singles play.

The Atlantic team of junior Jade Harter and senior Maylynn Ferrell lost in the #2 doubles to senior Alexis Opheim and senior Mallory Kjeldgaard of Lewis Central.

Atlantic’s two freshman stepped up and had a few solid matches in singles according to coach Mike McDermott.

Coach McDermott commented on how his team did in the doubles.

McDermott has been impressed with the way freshman have been playing this season.

Coach McDermott states what he plans to do as coach to help out his Trojans tennis program in their upcoming meet on Friday.

The Trojans next match will be Friday May 10th, when they will host Creston in the Class 1A – Region 2 First Round in Atlantic. That team match will get underway at 9:00 a.m.
