January 15th, 2024 by Asa Lucas

Tuesday January 16th is a going to be a unique day for Trojan Athletics. Both the Atlantic girls (4-9) and boys (3-8) basketball are gearing up for a home stand Tuesday morning against Red Oak, with one unique twist. The whole gymnasium will be packed with Atlantic students from all grades thanks to a plan from Head Coach Dan Vargason and Atlantic Athletic Director Andy Mitchell.

Different school employees, citizens, and groups like the Booster club have volunteered their time and resources to help make this special event happen. However, even with all the effort and community involvement Mitchell still wants the focus of the game to be on the students in attendance and the students down on the floor.

It will be a great atmosphere for two talented Trojan teams, who at times have shown their competitive nature. The raucous environment will be a new one in the gymnasium this year and is making the Atlantic players excited.

Tipoff for the double header starts at 11:30 a.m. for the girls and the boys are scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
