No. 5 Iowa Bounces Back Against Nebraska

(hawkeyesports.com) IOWA CITY, Iowa – The fifth-ranked Iowa women’s basketball team continued Big Ten play defeating Nebraska, 92-73, on Saturday afternoon inside a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa improved to 19-2 this season and 8-1 in conference play.

All-American, Caitlin Clark recorded a double-double finishing with 38 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Kate Martin added 16 points and Sydney Affolter also recorded double digit figures with 12.

The Hawkeyes lead the Huskers, 14-11, after the first quarter with Iowa leading the duration of the quarter. Clark had half of the Hawkeyes points in the first quarter.

Nebraska scored four straight points to start the second quarter and to take its first lead of the game. There were 10 lead changes in the second quarter. The Hawkeyes went on a 9-0 run at the end of the second closed out by a buzzer beater three by Clark to go into halftime with a 36-31 lead.

Iowa ran away with it in the second half shooting 60% from the field and 56.3% from three to lead the entire second half. Clark went 6-8 from deep scoring 28 points in the final two quarters. The Hawkeyes outscored the Huskers, 56-42 in the second half.

The fifth-ranked Hawkeyes will hit the road to face Northwestern on Jan. 31. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (CT) inside a sold-out Welsh Ryan Arena. The game will air on Peacock (subscription required) and the Hawkeye Radio Network.
