January 27th, 2024 by Asa Lucas

The (3-11) AHSTW Basketball team has had a bumpy ride on the season so far. Currently riding a nine-game losing streak and coming off a 62-59 loss to Logan Magnolia Friday night. In a season full of opposition and contested losses, Head Coach Grant Harris is taking a constructive look on the year and finding mini victories.

One of those mini victories for the Vikings on the year has been the play from junior Luke Sternberg who leads the team in scoring with 17 points a game and assists at 29. The humility that Sternberg has shown throughout the season has impressed coach Harris.

Another Viking player who is showing drastic improvement with their high amount effort is young sophomore Collin Harder. Harder is second on the team with scoring at 12 points per game and Coach Harris has enjoyed seeing his progression.

Harder is not the only sophomore that has caught Coach Harris’s attention this season. Kaden Jorgensen is the leading rebounder on the team with and Drew Lee. Both have shown a strong work ethic on the year and a desire to get more minutes. They give a glimpse of the bright future AHSTW has.

Coming up for the Vikings is their toughest test of the year. They will be at home facing an undefeated (16-0) Underwood squad. To get a win and end their nine-game losing streak, Coach Harris wants his team to play physical.

Tip-off is set for 4:30pm at the AHSTW Community School Gym.
