Drake Women’s Basketball Can’t Come Through in Loss to Minnesota in Second Overtime

(Minneapolis, MN) – The Drake women’s basketball team fell in two overtimes to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Drake tried to hold on in their loss but they were not able to come further in the game as they fell 94-88.
Drake was led in the game by Katie Dinnebier who scored 30 points in the game with five assists and three steals. Dinnebier scored her career-best in the game and kept Darke in the game to bring it to overtime. Behind her was Anna Miller as she knocked in 17 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Grace Berg knocked in 12 points and six assists while Taylor McAulay earned 11 points and two rebounds. Courtney Becker earned 10 points to finish off double-digit scoring.
On the opposite side, Minnesota was led by Mara Braun with 33 points and four rebounds with four assists to lead overall in the competition. Mallory Heyer was able to knock in 16 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Grace Grocholski and Sophie Hart each earned 12 points while combining for 14 rebounds. Amaya Battle also earned 11 points in the game to finish off double-digit scoring.
Drake leads the series with Minnesota 10-7 overall, but are now 0-3 in their last three overtime contests. The Bulldogs are now 5-3 overall and are 1-2 on the road overall. Head coach Allison Pohlman said after the game, “I think we did everything that we could have done from a tactical standpoint. We had so many players step up and make big plays. We will take what we need out of this and look forward to Friday.”
The Bulldogs will take on North Dakota State this upcoming Friday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. at home.
