Another deadly crash Friday: 4 killed in Cedar Rapids

(Cedar Rapids, Iowa) – Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a two-vehicle, four-fatality accident that occurred Friday night at approximately 9:56p.m. Authorities report Police and Fire Department personnel were called to C Street S.W., near Edison Road, for the report of a vehicle accident with trapped occupants and one car on fire.
Upon arrival, police, fire and Area Ambulance crews began medical evaluations while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. As a result of the accident and fire, four people are deceased. Their identities are being withheld at this time.
No further information is available at this time. The latest reported crash means a total of seven people died in Iowa crashes, Friday. As we previously reported, an 18-and 17-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska, died in a crash between an SUV and a semi tractor-trailer Friday evening, east of Creston, and a man from Osceola died Friday afternoon west of there, when his pickup collided head-on with an SUV.
The State’s death toll from crashes now amounts to 346. That’s 31 more than last year at this same time, or an increase of 10.9-percent.
