Western Iowa teen dies after being shot in an Omaha bar

(Omaha, NE.) – Police in Omaha report a 17-year-old from western Iowa who was shot late Friday night in Omaha, has died from his injuries. Authorities say Mauricio Chavez, of Council Bluffs, was shot Friday at around 11:15 p.m., in the area of 42nd and H streets. Officers were called to the Sippin Sirens bar and found Chavez with a gunshot wound. The teen was transported by ambulance to Nebraska Medicine with life-saving measures in progress, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
