Fatal crash in southeast Iowa, Saturday morning

(Rural Muscatine County, Iowa) – A crash south of Nichols in southeast Iowa, Saturday morning, resulted in one person dead and two others injured. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened around 6-a.m. on Highway 70 at 200th, in Rural Muscatine County.

Officials say a 2015 Ford Explorer crossed the center line of the road and stuck a southbound 2011 Chevrolet Malibu. The driver of the car was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene from their injuries. The Patrol says that person was from West Liberty.

A passenger in the Malibu, a 4 year old child,who was restrained in a car seat, and the driver of the SUV, were injured. They were transported by West Liberty Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City.

No names had been were released at the time of the report.
