BILOXI, Miss. – University of Iowa men’s golf concluded the fall season on Tuesday with the final round of the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational. Iowa placed 10^th, finishing 894 (+30) after 54 holes at Fallen Oak Golf Course.  Iowa’s final round score 290 (+2) was its lowest of the tournament.

Junior Ian Meyer was the low finisher for the Hawkeyes at the tournament. Meyer tied for 23^rd at 4-over par (220) after three rounds. Mac McClear was the next low finisher for Iowa. McClear carded a 73 (+1) during the tournament’s final round to jump seven spots to tie for 35^th place. Sophomore Hogan Hansen shot 3-under par on the front nine in the final round of the tournament. Hansen eagled hole 15 and proceeded to birdie two of the next three holes. Hansen finished his final round at even par, the low score for the Hawkeyes in the final round of the tournament.  No. 2 Auburn won the team championship at 21-under par (843). Matthew Foster of SMU was the individual medalist, shooting 208 (-8).

“We were determined today and played much better golf. We turned at 6-under par and had a great chance to catch a few more teams but we didn’t execute. We have to figure that piece out as a team. Having the belief and confidence to close out rounds. I’m very proud of Ian Meyer. He’s been working hard at home and took advantage of his opportunity this week. He showed a lot of grit and made some great par saves down the stretch.”
