Incident at the Red Oak Airport Sunday morning: No injuries reported

(Red Oak, Iowa) – The Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency reports shortly before 10-a.m. today (Sunday), an aircraft traveling from Omaha, NE to St. Louis, MO experienced an in-flight emergency and was forced to make an emergency landing at the Red Oak Municipal Airport.
The aircraft landed on Runway 5, which was currently closed for runway maintenance and upgrades at the time of the incident. After touching down, the aircraft made contact with a portable barricade and the left wing made contact with a Bobcat skid loader that was parked off the runway causing significant damage to the aircraft’s wing. The aircraft was safely able to exit the closed runway to a nearby taxi way where it came to rest.

The aircraft involved is a Cirrus SR22T single engine plane, owned and operated by a subject from St. Louis, MO. No injuries were reported to the pilot or passenger of the aircraft. Damage to the contractor equipment on site is reported as minimal.

Red Oak Fire Department and Montgomery County EMA were assisted at the scene by Red Oak Municipal Airport staff.
The incident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
