The CAM Cougars continued their current hot streak as they defeated Martensdale St-Mary in dominating fashion. The Cougars came into class 1A Region 4 playoffs with a streak of three wins in a row and 6 of their last 7. The Cougars got off to a slow start falling down 5-2 early in set 1 before going on a incredible run to take the set 25-11. Head Coach Jenna Mcdonald said it has been a constant effort all season long to not get to down on themselves after mistakes and trying to keep a positive energy amongst the girls.

The Cougars continued that run well into the second set where they were led by their senior star Eva Steffensen who dominated the second set from all areas of the floor including front net where she pounded several kills to provide a huge energy spark for the Cougars and also added in a ace in the set as well. The Cougars would win the second set 25-10. In the third and final set the Cougars were led by another senior in Emma Follmann who was set up at the night several times by her younger sister freshman Courtney Follmann. Coach Mcdonald was impressed with both her senior leaders tonight.

The Cougars who swept the set winning 3-0 now advance to the Regional quarterfinals Wednesday night where they will be back on their home floor to take on the winner of Exira-EHK and Orient-Macksburg. Coach Mcdonald and her team know they have to take the playoffs one step at a time and understand it’s win or go home.
