Big 12 Basketball Tipoff Set for Kansas City

Women’s and men’s basketball programs will preview the 2023-24 season at the Big 12 Basketball Tipoff, presented by Old Trapper on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 17-18, in Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center.

Head coaches and student-athletes will meet with the media in a variety of interview sessions with women’s programs scheduled for Tuesday while men’s teams appear on Wednesday. Big 12 Now on ESPN+ will provide two different feeds of coverage each day with the main set simulcast on ESPNU from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. CT.

The Women’s Tipoff telecast will feature a series of Q&A sessions with head coaches and student-athletes moderated by Missy Heidrick as well as on-set interviews with ESPN’s Kris Budden, Hannah Wing and Hall of Famer and former Texas Tech standout Sheryl Swoopes. Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark will open the event with an 8:30 a.m. CT press conference.

Men’s Tipoff interviews will be conducted by Budden, Wing and Fran Fraschilla on Wednesday. A feed of head coaches’ press conferences will also be available from 9:10-10:50 a.m. CT and 1:30-3:25 p.m. CT.

The Kid Reporters program returns to the Tipoff for the second year, as third and fourth graders at KIPP Elementary School, a public charter elementary school in Kansas City, Missouri, will interview student-athletes and coaches. Third-graders McKinley Tucker and Kyree Harbour along with fourth-graders Maceio Jones and Kinsley Sowell will participate in the event. Content created by the Kid Reporters will be shared throughout the basketball season.
