Timberwolves Run at Clarke

The Southwest Valley Timberwolves travelled to Osceola on Tuesday to compete in the Clarke Invitational cross country meet.  On a beautiful cool day to run, the girls posted a 6th place team finish out of 7 schools, beating Chariton.  The boys finished 9th out of the 9 schools posting team scores.

For the girls. junior Olivia Kathikar placed 40th overall to lead the team.  Seniors Sierra Pearson in 47th, Karissa Richey in 49th, and Kya Newton in 50th and junior Victoria Fletchall in 53rd rounded out the girls squad.  This was a very competitive meet on the girls side, with some very good runners from 2A and 3A schools.  There were only a handful of conference schools there with only Mount Ayr fielding a team score in 5th place, just ahead of us.  Olivia and Sierra both ran very good times on this course compared to their last times running here. The other 3 girls ran times that were right in their season average.  Overall I was pleased with the effort from all 5 ladies tonight.
In the boys race, junior Matthew Means in 54th place, ran a new PR to lead the team for the 3rd straight meet.  Junior Sanitago Quintans Pineiro also ran a new PR to finish 57th.  Senior Ethan James in 60th place ran a season best time.  Sophomores Quaid Eddy in 64th and Ashton Boswell in 69th ran well; with sophomore Lucas James in 86th running a season best time also.  The boys overall continue to improve and do very well.  The top 5 were within 1:15 of each other and really lived up to our season motto “We Run in Packs”.  If they can continue to push each other and keep getting new PR’s and season best times each meet, it will be exciting to see what they can do at the conference meet in a few weeks.
The Timberwolves will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Shenandoah.
