Stuart Police: No evidence of a possible threat at WCV High School

(Stuart, Iowa) – Officials with the Stuart Police Department, Thursday evening, issued an update to an incident that took place earlier in the day. Authorities say at approximately 11:38-a.m. on Thursday, September 21st, 2023, the Stuart Police Department was contacted by staff at the West Central Valley (WCV) High School, with regard to a possible threat that had been made.
The school activated their evacuation plan as part of their protocol. Law Enforcement from various surrounding agencies responded and conducted an investigation. At this point there is no evidence that any credible threat did or now does exist. The building was secured, and the area of concern searched by law enforcement before students and staff were allowed to return. Out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement officers remained at the school for the remainder of the school day.
The Stuart Police Department was assisted by the Stuart Fire Department, Stuart Rescue, Adair, Dallas and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Offices, the Iowa State Patrol and Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management.
