AMES, Iowa – Iowa State’s first-ever selection into the National Women’s Soccer League, Jordan Silkowitz, has been loaned to the Brisbane Roar FC, an Australian professional women’s soccer team. The Roar competes in the country’s premier women’s soccer competition, the A-League Women.

Silkowitz is wrapping up her first professional season with the Kansas City Current. Silkowitz saw no action in her rookie campaign, which is set to end regular season play in the middle of October.

In sports, a loan means when a player is permitted to play for another team/club/program other than the one they are currently contracted with. It’s a practice that is commonly used to help get experience for young prospects.

Silkowitz is expected to return to the Current following her loan with the Roar.

Silkowitz totaled 234 saves as a Cyclone and her 1.44 goals-against average is the third lowest in program history. In just three seasons as a Cyclone, Silkowitz totaled 10 shutouts – good enough for the third-most in school annals.
