ALBANY, New York – Junior Annika Herbine’s two goals in the first half led the seventh-ranked University of Iowa field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Fairfield on Friday afternoon in a neutral site matchup at Alumni Turf.

Herbine gave the Hawkeyes the early lead 16 seconds into the game by scoring off a rebound right in front of the goal. She extended the lead in the second quarter off an assist from fifth-year Sofie Stribos.

Freshman Dionne van Aalsum ended the game with a goal in the 59th minute, unassisted.

Iowa defense only allowed 2 shots, none on goal, in its second shutout this season.

OF NOTE… 
– Herbine scored her first two goals on the season. She posted her last multi-goal game over Providence College last season (9/9).

– Iowa recorded its second shutout in three games.

– van Aalsum has scored in all three games tallying five goals
