MADISON, Wis. – University of Iowa women’s soccer fell to Wisconsin, 1-0, on the road Thursday at the McClimon Soccer Complex. Iowa moves to 6-1-2 overall, with a 0-1-1 start in Big Ten Conference play.

The lone goal was scored in the 24^th minute on a header by Wisconsin’s Aryssa Mahrt, sent whipping just past the reach of diving Hawkeye goalkeeper Macy Enneking. The Badger score was the third goal Iowa has allowed through nine games this season.

After being outshot, 6-1, in the first half, the Hawkeye defense stiffened to allow just two Badger shots following the 26^th minute of play, both coming in the second half. Iowa created four second-half shots of its own, three of which were on goal.

Freshman Millie Greer took two shots on goal in the final eight minutes of play, including a strong look in the 86^th minute which was thwarted by an athletic save from veteran Wisconsin goalkeeper Erin McKinney.

Enneking finished the contest with four saves, one shy of season high.

“Thought we deserved something more, but nothing is given in this conference. We won the area from box-to-box, but unfortunately lost inside the box. The women played hard for all 90 minutes, and there are a heck of a lot of positives to take from this game.”

• Iowa was outshot, 8-5, on Thursday night, including a 5-4 deficit in shots on goal. The Hawkeyes entered the contest with a sizeable advantage in shots taken (128-47) and shots on goal (60-22) against its opponents this season.
• Iowa has held opponents to two shots or fewer in 11 of 18 total halves of competition this season.
• 90 Tracker: Hawkeyes Samantha Cary (7), Millie Greer (6), Maggie Johnston (4) and Rielee Fetty (3) each added to their 90-minute count on Thursday. Making their 90-minute firsts this season were junior Kenzie Roling, sophomore Kellen Fife and freshman Eva Pattison.
