IOWA CITY, Iowa – One hundred twenty University of Iowa student-athletes have been named to the 2023 Spring Academic All-Big Ten team, the conference office announced Monday. The list includes student-athletes from baseball (11), men’s golf (3), women’s golf (2), rowing (32), softball (11), women’s tennis (4), men’s track and field (15), and women’s track and field (42).

The 32 rowing and 42 women’s track and field honorees are both school records.

A total of 2,192 students competing in spring and at-large sports were honored, including 360 in baseball, 181 in softball, 311 in women’s rowing, 74 in men’s and 79 in women’s golf, 180 in men’s and 178 in women’s lacrosse, 63 in men’s and 70 in women’s tennis, 263 in men’s and 336 in women’s track and field and 262 in at-large sports (representing bowling, men’s and women’s fencing, ice hockey, lightweight rowing, men’s and women’s rifle and pistol, men’s volleyball, sand volleyball, synchronized swimming and water polo.)

Eighty-one student-athletes carried a perfect grade point average, including rowing’s Natalie DeGabriele and track and field’s Jamie Kofron, Lillian Schmidt, Konnor Sommer and Kelli Tosec.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of May 1 for spring sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
