Former Adair County Sheriff FRED SKELLENGER, 85, of Greenfield, died Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Salem Lutheran Homes and Rehabilitation Center in Elk Horn.  Funeral services for FRED SKELLENGER will be held 10:30-a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the Greenfield United Methodist Church. Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield has the arrangements.

Visitation at the funeral home is on Monday, May 22nd, from 3-until 7-p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5-until 7-p.m.

Burial, with full military rites by the Greenfield American Legion Head-Endres Post #265 & VFW Post 5357, will take place in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Jimmy V. Foundation.

FRED SKELLENGER is survived by:

His wife – Virginia Kay Skellenger, of Greenfield.

His son – Kevin Skellenger, of West Des Moines.

3 grandchildren,  other relatives and friends.
