Top women hurdlers prepare for Drake Relays

Two of the top women’s hurdlers in the world compete in Saturday afternoon’s 100 hurdles at the Drake Relays. American Nia Ali is the 2019 world champion and has been a regular at Drake.

The former Olympic silver medalist has remained competitive on the world stage despite her growing family. Her youngest child is nearly two.

Ali’s bid for a second straight world championship ended in Eugene, Oregon last year when she clipped two hurdles in a heat race. She opened this season by winning at a meet in Florida.

Ali says she enjoys competing in front of the large crowds at Drake.

Jamaica’s Tobi Amusan will be competing at Drake for the first time as reigning world champion and world record holder. She does not feel any pressure because of it.
