Atlantic Police: No credible threat to Atlantic Schools today (Monday, 4/3/23)

(Atlantic, Iowa) – Officials with the Atlantic Police Department took to social media Sunday night to address a message circulating through the community of a potential threat being made to the students of the Atlantic School District. The statement said “Officers were made aware of this situation (Sunday) and it was investigated by our department with the assistance of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Atlantic, IA.
“This investigation has lead to finding no credible threat being made. Officers will be continuing to monitor, follow up, and complete the investigation into this incident. We will also be providing more law enforcement presence in our schools throughout the day [[Monday].”
Atlantic School District Superintendent Steve Barber sent a message to parents/guardians in the District Sunday, that read, in part, “We are confident that at no time (Monday) staff and students will be in jeopardy. We will begin school on-time.”
