The Atlantic girls basketball team started the game on a 12-0 and controlled the entire contest in a 56-18 win over Denison-Schleswig on Friday night.

The Trojans led 17-5 by the end of the first quarter and ballooned the lead to 30 by halftime. The Trojans did a nice job of getting the ball in the paint early and Paytn Harter dropped in 10 of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter. Atlantic head coach Dan Vargason said that early aggressiveness was key.

The Trojans locked down the Monarchs with their typical strong defense, forcing 21 Denison-Schleswig turnovers on the night.

Aubrey Guyer added 11 points and Jada Jensen and Madison Huddleson both finished with 10 for the Trojans. Atlantic improved to 16-4 on the season and will next up host Harlan on Tuesday.

Denison-Schleswig was led by 6 points from Kaina Schulz. The Monarchs drop to 3-15 and they will face Carroll on Saturday.
