Colton Rasmussen got hot early and kick-started the Atlantic offense in a 74-51 win for the Trojans over Clarinda on Tuesday night. Rasmussen had 10 points in the first quarter, including two threes and a thundering two-hand slam off a steal.

The Trojans built an 8-point lead by the end of the first and kept the advantage near the ten-point mark most of the game until pulling away in the fourth. Rasmussen finished with 24 points and Carter Pellett got going in the second half and poured in 23. Atlantic went 9 of 10 at the free throw line in the second half to help the cause. Atlantic Head Coach Derek Hall said they’ve been waiting for a performance like this.

A lot of players were able to contribute for the Trojans and Coach Hall was proud of that collective effort.

Atlantic improves to 4-7 on the season and completes the season sweep of the Cardinals. Next up for Atlantic is a trip to Harlan on Friday. We’ll have that game on KJAN.

Clarinda was led by 17 points from Tadyn Brown and 13 from Wyatt Schmitt. The Cardinals drop to 4-7 on the season and they will face Sidney on Thursday for their next contest.
