Fremont County S/O to offer new Cadet Program

(Sidney, Iowa) – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office today (Monday), announced a new program is available for older teenagers. The Fremont County Sheriff Cadet Program is available to any person 15-to18-years of age (Must be 15 during the 2022-23 school year), who live in Fremont County.
The Sheriff Cadet Program is a hands-on learning opportunity for youth that have an interest in law enforcement but does exclude those that are not. Throughout this program “Cadets” will engage in monthly training – basic report writing, traffic stops, handcuffing, defensive tactics, firearms and so much more – community service, and ride-alongs. “Cadets” must be 15-18, have a valid permit or drivers license, provide proof of a yearly up-to-date physical examination, and remain in good academic standing. To become a Fremont County Sheriff Cadet individuals must complete the application, essay, physical fitness test, and interview.
Applications are available at the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Sidney High School, and Fremont-Mills High School and are due Friday, October 14th.
