Sept. 2021 Weather data for Atlantic

(Atlantic, Iowa) – The month of September in Atlantic was warmer than average during the day, and slightly cooler then average during the overnight hours. The Average High of 82 was seven-degrees above normal, while the Average Low of 50, just one-degree shy of normal. We broke a record on Sept. 27th, when we topped at 94 degrees. Just three days earlier we had a Low of 32. That wasn’t a record, but it was coldest morning of the month.
Precipitation-wise, we ended-up with 2.46 inches at the KJAN studios, which was a deficit of 1.35 inches. By the end of the month, Cass County had gone from Abnormally Dry on the latest drought monitor, to the next worse category: Moderately Dry. The most rain fell on the 29th, at 1.17-inches.
During the month of October, we can expected an Average High of 61-degrees, an Average Low of 39, and rain typically amounting to 2.76-inches. We’ll let you know how the data compared to the norm, when we compile the data next month.
