COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Cailie Logue joined Iowa State’s contingent of NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships qualifiers with her eighth-place finish Thursday night in the women’s 10,000-meter run at the NCAA West Preliminaries.

Logue clinched her trip to Hayward Field, and her first Outdoor Championships appearance with a 33:46.05 at E.B. Cushing Stadium. Already with NCAA Indoor and Cross Country All-America honors to her name, she will get to add to that on June 7 in Eugene, Oregon.

The Cyclone junior was always among the lead-pack throughout the race, keeping herself within contention for one of the 12 spots in Eugene. The field whittled down to about 20 6,000 meters in and when Rice’s Grace Forbes and Oregon’s Carmela Cardama Baez with 2,000 to go, Logue was in a group of seven that had gotten away from the race for 12th.

She was able to bring it home from there, crossing in eighth in 33:46.05 and becoming the first member of the Cyclone women’s squad to secure a spot in Eugene.
