An organization formed in Red Oak to promote a positive message and outreach to those in the age bracket of 1-101, received the generous donation of $1,000 today (Thursday), from Mark Schildberg, who represented the E.F. and Sylvia Schildberg Foundation.

The “Southwest Iowa Squadron of Heroes” will use the funds to help acquire a trailer for parades, or trading cards to hand out to young people, with whom they strive to have positive interactions.

Their Mission Statement says their goal is to “Affect a positive influence in one person’s life (hopefully a young person), and the efforts/cost/time will all be worthwhile. We may never know the result or the particular person we had a positive contact with and that part of the equation does not matter.” In addition, they formed to let the public know that we have heroes all around us, and sometimes, we have the hero within us.
