DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A restaurant worker in Council Bluffs has tested positive for the new coronavirus, Pottawattamie County. Officials announced Monday the woman (who is between 41-and 61-years of age and who tested presumptive positive) works at a Panera Bread, in Council Bluffs. The business closed over the weekend to undergo a deep cleaning and hadn’t reopened as of Monday.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness. The Pottawattamie County case came as the Iowa Department of Public Health reported Monday that there were five new cases of virus, bringing the total in Iowa to eight.

In each of the other cases, the individuals had recently taken a cruise in Egypt and were recovering at home.
