The teenage driver of a vehicle suffered what were considered life-threatening injuries, and three other teens suffered minor injuries, during a single-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Fremont County. Authorities report the accident happened at around 3:45-pm. on 115th St near 254th Ave, in rural Tabor. Deputies determined a 2008 Ford F150 was eastbound on 115th St, driving in the center of the roadway. The driver, a 16-year old male from Tabor, swerved to avoid a westbound vehicle at the crest of a hill, causing the vehicle to sway and leave the roadway to the left. The pickup entered a field and rolled three times.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was flown by medical helicopter to Nebraska Medicine for treatment of serious injuries. Three juvenile passengers, who were wearing seat belts, suffered minor injuries. The unidentified driver was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. Authorities say speed was a factor in the crash.

Tabor Fire and Rescue and Tabor Police assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office with the call.
