State Swim Meet Qualifiers held Saturday in Johnston; Atlantic swimmers have a respectable performance

The Girls Varsity State Swim Meet Qualifying Competition was held Saturday afternoon in Johnston. Locally, members of the Atlantic Lady Trojans Swim Team Coached by Dean Junker and Assistant Coach Jennifer Miller, will move on to State Competition, in six events. The Girl’s State Swimming meet will be held on Saturday, November 8th and 9th in Marshalltown.

Atlantic Senior Annamaria Lowary placed 17th in the 200 yard Freestyle. She also placed 24th in the 500-yard Freestyle. Lewis Central’s Audrey Bach came in at 19th place in the 200.  In the women’s 50 yard Freestyle, Senior Clare Christensen placed 8th. She also placed 8th in the 100-yard Freestyle. Carroll Sophomore Jenna Currier was 16th in the 50-yard event.

In the women’s 100-yard Butterfly, Carroll Junior Melea Axman came in 16th, also. In the Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle: Atlantic’s Clare Christensen placed eighth; Jenna Currier from Carroll was 13th. Annamaria Lowary came in at 24th place in the 500-Yard Freestyle. The 200 Yard Free Style Relay Team of Aleah Hermansen, Kate Landuis, Lowary and Christensen earned a spot in the state event with the 12th fastest time of 1.40.76. And the 400 Yard Free Style Relay team of Hermansen, Alexes Reynolds, Lowary, and Christensen are in with the 16th fastest time of 3:42.29.
