Sports

October 17th, 2019 by Jim Field

Trojan LogoThe Atlantic Trojans (2-5) football team has suffered setbacks to back-to-back top ten ranked teams, but the Trojans are ready to finish the season strong. Two more contests remain for Atlantic and then next challenge will be the Shenandoah Mustangs (2-5) this Friday night at the Trojan Bowl.

The Trojans fell in their Homecoming contest to Greene County 26-0 last week. Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott said despite the loss he was impressed with the way the defense finished that game.

The Mustangs feature a veteran quarterback that can run and throw the ball effectively in Kyle Cerven. Coach McDermott said containing the run threat from the quarterback spot will be a key in the game. When the Trojans have the ball Coach McDermott said they need to execute better and make the big plays that they have missed out on the past couple of games.

The Trojans and the Mustangs will kickoff at 7:00pm on Friday night at the Trojan Bowl. You can hear the a full interview with Coach McDermott on “Trojan Preview” at 4:45pm Friday on KJAN.

A reminder that all former Trojan football players are encouraged to come to the game this week to support the team and commemorate the final game at the Trojan Bowl before renovations are made after the season. It also is another part of the season long celebration of the 125th year of Trojan football.
