The Iowa State Patrol says the driver of a vehicle that went out of control and crashed Saturday night, died during the accident. Authorities say a 2003 Nissan SUV was traveling west on NE 46th Avenue at around 9-p.m., when the vehicle went out of control, entered a ditch and struck a concrete barrier. The SUV then rolled onto its top, and burst into flames.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle. A passenger was able to escape before being transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment of injuries. No names had been released as of Sunday afternoon, at the request of the victims’ families.
