Adair County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater, Monday evening, released a report on two arrests that took place last week. 25-year old Rondale Oliver, Jr., of Omaha, was arrested April 28th by an Iowa State Patrol Trooper. He was arrested for Theft in the 2nd Degree (Motor Vehicle Theft not exceeding $10,000 in value), after a broadcast was put out through State Radio, of a stolen vehicle traveling from Omaha to Cedar Rapids.

At around 5:55-p.m., the vehicle, a 2019 Ford Escape, was located at mile marker 76 of Interstate 80. The vehicle, with four occupants, was stopped and they were questioned and detained. Three of the occupants stated that Oliver, Jr. has possession of the vehicle, which had Texas license plates.

The occupants said also that Oliver, Jr. was in possession of the vehicle from a few days prior, to as far back as Easter. State Radio confirmed with Des Moines Police, that the vehicle was stolen, as it was never returned to the rental company at the Des Moines Airport. Oliver, Jr. was being held in the Adair County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.

And, 43-year old David Joseph Rayer, Jr., of Greenfield, was arrested May 3rd on a court ordered mittimus for non-compliance with a court order in connection with a civil matter. He was sentenced to 30-days in jail and ordered to pay the plaintiff $750 for attorney’s fees. A compliance hearing was set for July 26th.
