Atlantic XC Invitational on tap tonight at Atlantic High School

The Atlantic Cross Country Invitational is set to run tonight on the grounds of the Atlantic High School. Due to possible weather issues the middle school races have been cancelled for this meet. The schedule tonight will go as follows: 4:00pm Varsity Girls, 4:40pm Varsity Boys, 5:20pm JV Girls, 6:00pm JV Boys. Spectator parking at the high school lot will be limited and the parking lot will be closed off after the first race starts and won’t be reopened until the final race finishes due to the course route.

27 teams are scheduled to participate in the meet. The girls team race will feature 6 ranked teams. Harlan (#2), Glenwood (#5), Dallas Center-Grimes (#6), and Atlantic (#7) are all ranked in Class 3A. Logan-Magnolia comes in top-ranked in Class 1A, while Earlham is #13.  Individually 10 different runners come in ranked in the top-30 of their respective classes. Janette Schraft of Glenwood will be one of the favorites as the 3rd ranked runner in Class 3A. Taylor McCreedy of Atlantic is ranked 6th in 3A and Peyton Pogge of Tri-Center is ranked #2 in Class 1A.

On the boys side Dallas Center-Grimes will be a slight team favorite. The Mustangs are ranked #5 in Class 3A. Glenwood (#13) and Sergeant Bluff-Luton (#15) are also ranked in 3A. Earlham comes in at #2 in 1A. Lewis Central, Thomas Jefferson, and Atlantic have strong squads as well. Individually Jerry Jorgenson of Treynor comes in ranked 2nd in 2A. Nate Mueller (#4) and Ethan Juergens (#14) of ADM are ranked in 3A along with Aiden Ramsey of DCG (#29) and Jalen Petersen of Atlantic (#30). Jordan Hustak of Missouri Valley is ranked 9th in 2A and Leo Garrigan of St. Albert comes in at #24 in 1A. Aidan Booton of Thomas Jefferson is another strong runner that is expected to contend toward the top of the pack.
