ISU’s Carleton earns AP All-American Honorable Mention honors

(From Cyclones.com) AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women’s basketball junior guard Bridget Carleton was named an honorable mention All-American, the Associated Press announced Monday. Carleton is the first Cyclone to earn All-America honors by the AP since Hallie Christofferson in 2014 and the ninth all-time.

The junior guard led Iowa State with 19.2 points per game, ranking third all-time in the ISU single-season record book. Her 594 points on the year rank fourth behind Angie Welle’s 2001 campaign. Carleton also set a single-season record in field goal attempts with 520.

In addition to her 19.2 points per game, she averaged 6.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals. Carleton was also a top-10 finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award, which honors the nation’s top small forward.

Carleton joins Christofferson, Chelsea Poppens (honorable mention), Kelsey Bolte (honorable mention), Lyndsey Medders (honorable mention), Alison Lacey (honorable mention), Anne O’Neil (honorable mention), Angie Welle (second team), Stacy Frese (second team) who were all honored by the AP.

The junior guard and member of the Canadian Senior National Team will enter her senior campaign with 1,382 career points, which ranks 15th in school history.
