NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Josey Jewell of Iowa has won the Lott IMPACT Trophy as the college defensive player having the biggest influence on his team. The other finalists were Micah Kiser of Virginia, Harrison Phillips of Stanford and Minkah Fitzpatrick of Alabama.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Donovan Jackson scored 25 points, including a career-high seven 3s, Cameron Lard had 15 points with 11 rebounds and Iowa State held off Alcorn State 78-58 for its seventh straight win. Lindell Wigginton scored 16 points for the Cyclones, who were forced to rally from an early 9-point deficit against arguably the worst team on their schedule.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Freshman Luka Garza had 23 points and 13 rebounds to help Iowa snap a four-game skid with a 91-60 win over Southern. Connor McCaffery made the first appearance of his career Sunday afternoon for the Hawkeyes after missing the first 10 games with a sprained ankle followed by illness.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kareem Hunt ran for 116 yards and a touchdown, the Chiefs shut down Derek Carr and Raiders offense and Kansas City held on to beat Oakland 26-15. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Chiefs and gave them a big boost in the AFC West. They began the day tied with the Raiders and Chargers atop the standings.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — A person familiar with the negotiations says reliever Luke Gregerson and the St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to an $11 million, two-year contract. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreement was subject to a physical and had not yet been announced. A 33-year-old right-hander, Gregerson went 2-3 with a career-high 4.57 ERA in 65 relief appearances for Houston. He did not allow a run in five postseason appearances as the Astros won their first title.
