An officer-involved, fatal shooting is being investigated in north central Iowa’s Humboldt County. Members of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation responded Saturday to the scene at 205 4th Street in Dakota City, Iowa.  Officers with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office had responded to this location at about 2:30 p.m. on the report of a wanted subject hiding under the deck of the residence.

Officers encountered an armed subject who fired a weapon in the air and then pointed the weapon at officers.  An officer with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources fired at the suspect fatally wounding him. The subject is not being identified at this time pending notification of relatives.

The investigation is ongoing.
