Atlantic Senior Cross Country runner Phoenix Shadden signed a letter of intent on Tuesday at the Atlantic High School to continue his running career at Southwestern Community College in Creston.  Phoenix just completed a very successful Senior campaign that saw him finish 10th in the Boys Class 3A State Meet.  Shadden said the decision to attend Southwestern just felt right.

Southwestern CC second year Head Coach Nick Ekel said he first noticed Phoenix at the Kuemper Catholic meet this season and liked his toughness.  He said Phoenix is the type of runner that he’s looking for.

Coach Ekel said Phoenix’s work ethic and mental toughness stood out and that’s what he is trying to build his program around.

Phoenix is the son of Jennifer Phippen and Brandon Shadden.
