20161122_atlanticgirlsatdenisonThe Atlantic Girls Basketball team is now 0-2 on the young season after a 54-34 loss at Denison on Tuesday night.  The Trojans suffered from poor shooting on the night and and couldn’t keep pace with a Denison team that returned the core of their lineup from last season.  The Monarchs took advantage of a scoring drought for the Trojans in the second quarter and grabbed a 14 point halftime lead.  Atlantic cut that lead down to 8 to start the third quarter but Denison pushed back and lead 41-26 by the end of the third on their way to the 20 point win.

Denison was led by Macy Waldemar with 12 points and Alex Mohr with 11.  Atlantic got 10 points from McKenna DenBeste in the loss. Atlantic Head Coach Kelly Juhl thought his team was sluggish after playing last night and shooting suffered.

Coach Juhl didn’t believe the loss was due to a lack of knowledge they just need to shoot better and find some players that will lead by example.

The Trojans are off now for the Thanksgiving break and will be back on the floor Friday, December 2nd at St. Albert.
